Tina Louise (born February 11, 1934) is an American actress best known for her portrayal of movie star Ginger Grant on the CBS television sitcom Gilligan’s Island.
With the death of Dawn Wells in 2020, Louise became the series’ final surviving cast member. She began her stage career in the mid-1950s before landing her breakthrough role in the 1958 drama film God’s Little Acre, for which she won the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year.
Louise appeared in The Trap, The Hangman, Day of the Outlaw, and For Those Who Think They’re Young. She also appeared in The Stepford Wives, The Happy Ending, and The Wrecking Crew (1975). Louise got her first role at the age of two after appearing in an advertisement for her father’s candy store. She began studying acting, singing and dancing at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in Manhattan at the age of 17 under Sanford Meisner. She was approached for modeling jobs, including the 1958 Frederick’s of Hollywood catalog, and she graced the covers of several pinup magazines, including Adam, Sir!, and Modern Man. Columbia Pictures studio arranged for her pictorials for Playboy in May 1958 and April 1959 in an effort to promote her.
